XSERIES 345 |
New xSeries 2U package delivers high levels of integrated function for
improved scalability and performance
The new IBM xSeries 345 2U, 2-way server delivers rack-dense computing
power that provides improved performance, high availability and scalability.
The x345 is packed with the latest Intel® Xeon™ processors, DDR memory,
Dual Ultra320 SCSI controllers, support of Ultra320 HDDs, Integrated Dual
Gigabit Ethernet and five PCI slots. The x345 is a feature-rich application
serving platform for space constrained data centers and application service
providers.
The x345 includes a full array of systems management features—Light Path
Diagnostics™, Predictive Failure Analysis®, IBM Director and the Integrated
Systems Management Processor —that work together to provide you with
proactive and predictive capabilities to help increase system reliability. The
optional Remote Supervisor Adapter is designed to allow full control of the
server, even when it's offline
The X345 is being replaced by the
X346 by the end of January !

Please read for all new
X345 8670xx models
New models of our Xeon DP systems are offered due
to memory technology changes in capacity and density.
To maintain adequate supply through 2004, IBM xSeries
is making this transition on 256 MB memory DIMMs transitioning
models to a 256-Mb-based component. Chipkillâ„¢ will
no longer be supported on 256 MB DIMMs. The previously
offered Chipkill feature on the 256 MB memory
DIMMs will be available only on a limited basis, via
special bid. Chipkill requires all 512MB or higher x4
DIMMs to be installed

External SCSI Storage This
external storage enclosure option provides the ability to expand the
storage capacity of your system beyond the physical limitations of the
server. A 14-bay enclosure, it can provide up to 2TB of externally
attached storage based on installed hard disk drives. The available twin
tailing/split bus feature allows two servers to access the data. This
high-function, high-density storage expansion unit is intended to work
in a rack or tower. It can support up to 14 Ultra320 SCSI drives on a
single logical bus. It supports easy customer servicing. Most
replaceable items and components are easily accessible for replacement
from either the front or the back. The
X345 is a 2U server and supports not internal Tape drives use
external tape drive options with this server
