 HS21 Memory Options
The LS42 ships with PC2-5300 double data rate II (DDR2)
dual-interleaved memory DIMMs operating at 667/800MHz
for fast access. It supports up to 64GB
of PC2-5300/PC2-6400 memory in 16 DIMM slots, using
industry-standard ECC (Error Checking and Correcting) registered
DIMMs.

Internal Hard-Drive Options
The LS42 offers a choice of disk storage, supporting
up to TWO 2.5-inch internal fixed SAS
drive, • 10K or 15K 2.5-inch —
73.4GB capacities or 10K 146GB hard drives. There are also
Solid State drive options. Certain expansion cards
will not allow for a second hard drive install. Please
check Configuration and Options guide for correct installation
requirements.

Blade Server Expansion Cards
The LS42 blade server includes one x8 PCI-E and one 133MHz PCI-X
adapter slot on each blade. Either one legacy PCI-X expansion
card or one SFF (small form factor) PCI-X or PCI-E adapter can
be installed in this blade (one card total). One CFFV and
one CFFH card can be installed in the blade at the same time.
One of two possible
expansion units may be added to increase the number of expansion
card slots available. Each will utilize the PCI-E slot in the
LS42:
• The PCI I/O Expansion Unit II (25K8373) provides two PCI-X slots in addition
to the slot on the LS22 blade (three slots usable).
An additional Blade slot is taken with this unit.
• The PCI Express Expansion Unit
(43W4391) provides two PCI-E slots in addition to the slot on
the LS22 blade. An additional Blade slot is taken with this
unit.

hours a day, seven days a week, including national holidays.
- Non-criitical problems (severity 2,3,4)
-- 9x5 -- 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the local time zone where you receive
the Service, Monday through Friday (excluding national holidays).
Response time:
- If not answered live, we will use
commercially reasonable efforts to respond to your call within two
hours.

IBM is announcing the new IBM Reseller
Option Kit (ROK) program. The ROK program authorizes
qualifying IBM Distributors to buy selected IBM OEM
licenses of select Microsoft Windows Server operating
systems for installation on IBM System x and BladeCenter
Servers or for sale to IBM Business Partners (Resellers)
for installation on IBM System x and BladeCenter
Servers. Distributors can also install the ROK
themselves if requested by the Reseller or if they want
to act as a Reseller in order to sell IBM System x and
Bladecenter Servers installed with the ROK directly to
customers. This program delivers one-stop shopping and
flexibility to our distributors, allowing them to buy
their Microsoft Windows Server operating systems and IBM
System x and BladeCenter servers from one source.
