What is Tech Data’s return policy?
Customer can use ReturnIT for return guidelines.
Can exceptions be made to the return policy?
Exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis. Contact ASM with your requests.
Where can I find the return guidelines for specific parts?
Customer can use ReturnIT for return guidelines.
Can I return a product that has been discontinued?
If the product was purchased prior to the discontinuation, it is returnable.
What if there is a price drop on the item I am returning?
Customer gets current price unless it’s a freight issue, wrong product shipped, etc…

Can I return a product without a valid RA number?
A valid RA number is required for all Tech Data returns.
How long is an RA number valid?
An RA number is valid for 30 days.
Can an RA be extended?
Unfortunately, there is no way to extend an RA number.
When will I receive credit for my RA?
Once the product is received back to our warehouse, please allow two weeks for credit to process.

Does Tech Data cover the return shipping costs on my defective product?
Tech Data does not cover the return shipping costs for defective returns.

Can an exception be made for my product that is not within guidelines?
Unfortunately, no exceptions will be made. Please be aware of the return guidelines. If in doubt of what is required for a return, please contact After Sales Management.

Can I fill out LODs for my end user?
LODs must be filled out according to the vendor specifications. If an end user is required to fill out the form, then they will not accept a reseller signature.
Shipping and Orders
How do I qualify for free shipping?
Orders more than $1,000 online, $2,400 on the phone.
What is the dollar amount needed for a cheaper handling fee?
Tech Data orders will be charged a handling fee of $7 for orders <$500 and $2 for orders >$500 on all order sources.
How do I check the status of/track my order?
You can check your status at MyOrderTracker.
How do I obtain “MyOrderTracker?”
Sales should set this up for them.
When will my backordered product ship?
You can check your status at MyOrderTracker.
How long do shipping claims take to process?
Up to 30 business days.
How long do I have to file a freight damage claim?
Fifteen calendar days after delivery.
What is the best course of action if I am missing a product?
Contact Tech Data ASM.
Do I need to report refusals to After Sales Management?
Yes, please report these to allow us to follow up on the credit and ensure the product is returned.
If I receive the wrong product or extra product, what is the best course of action?
Please call us to have the incorrect or extra product picked up and returned to Tech Data.
Can I just keep the product and be billed for it later?
Unfortunately, this product must be returned.
Sony Fulfillment Customers
How do I become a Sony Fulfillment customer?
You must receive approval from Sony and contact Tech Data New Accounts to setup an account.
How do I submit a return?
Fill out the ATR Form and send to your Sony sales rep. Once Sony approves, they will forward to Tech Data for processing.
What information should I provide on the form to ensure the least amount of processing issues? Please fill out all required information (in red text). The best information to provide is the Tech Data invoice and part number.
Does Tech Data accept Sony product that was not purchased through Tech Data?
No. Unfortunately, Tech Data only accepts products that were purchased through Tech Data.
Does my Non-Sony Fulfillment account have the same return guidelines?
No. Non-Sony Fulfillment account returns are processed through Tech Data and do not require an ATR.
How do I find out the status of my trailing credit?
Please send an email to SONYFIN@techdata.com for trailing credit inquiries.
Can I set my account to use a carrier other than Ceva when I qualify for free freight?
Tech Data chooses the carrier based on location and weight. The only way to guarantee the carrier is to pay for that specific freight carrier.
