A Market Assignment is an identifier for a group of countries in a common geographical area. Market Assignments are used to control the purchase of items, ensuring adherence to vendor contract sales agreements and restrictions.
Markets are assigned to customers to indicate which country groups the customer does business in and which orders are authorized to be shipped. Markets are also assigned to items and their product lines, indicating to which country groups the product can be shipped. Multiple markets may be assigned to Export and Latin America customers.
During product searches, the products that display will be those within the customer's default Market Assignment. Those customers who have multiple Market Assignments will be able to choose a different Market Assignment, which will change the products in their search results.
A Destination Restriction identifies a specific country within a market where a vendor contract restricts the sale of product.
If a product returned during a search has a destination restriction, an icon will display to the right of the product number. Clicking on the icon will access a message box identifying the country to which the product is restricted from being shipped. If the product is added to the order and the order is submitted, a message box will appear notifying the customer that the product caused the order to go on hold and that it will be reviewed.
