Updating Tax Information

Because Tech Data does not sell to end-users, all products are sold tax-free for resale. We are required to maintain completed resale tax certificate information for all our customers. No orders will be shipped until complete tax information is received.

If you are planning to drop ship orders into California or Massachusetts, you must be registered to collect sales taxes in each respective state. Please attach a California Resale Certificate with a valid California seller's permit number and/or a Massachusetts ST-4 resale certificate with a valid Massachusetts sales tax number when submitting the Multi-State form.  If you are planning to drop ship orders into Florida using the Tech Data's Florida Logistic center, you must be registered in Florida and provide a signed copy of the Florida Annual Resale certificate.

Tech Data is required to keep updated tax documentation on file for all customers, if your company has had a name or address change, please complete and send updated resale documentation.  Orders may be delayed if updated tax documentation is not on file with Tech Data.

If you are an exporter or a foreign reseller who will be shipping product through a U.S. location (via freight forwarder, customer pickup, etc.) please call our Tax Department at 800-237-8931, ext. 77814 for special instructions and forms. Otherwise, you can easily submit the necessary forms by following these steps:

If applicable, please update your Customer Information.

1.       Print and complete the appropriate forms listed below for all the states in which your company is registered to collect sales taxes. Forms are listed in three categories. Please review each category for forms that may apply to your business:

·         State-Specific

·         Reseller Affidavits

2.       If you are already a Tech Data customer, please write your customer number on each form.
 

3.       Send the completed documents to us in either of the following ways:
